There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where casino wagering is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent spot, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are allegedly required to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel compound that highlights numerous luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
